Liberal Leader says No to coal mining
in Wyong water catchment valleys



Liberal Member for Terrigal Chris Hartcher (L), Opposition leader Barry O'Farrell (C) and Australian Coal Alliance campaign director Alan Hayes (R) join angry residents in their opposition to the Kores coal mine proposal. 




Liberal leader Barry O’Farrell reaffirmed his party’s opposition to longwall coal mining in the Wyong water catchment valleys at the Australian Coal Alliance rally held at Woodbury Park on 28 February 2009.

The NSW COALITION has committed themselves in writing to the residents of the Central Coast to protect their drinking water catchment from coal mining. This will also protect your health from the impact of coal dust.

“A NSW Coalition Government will not permit any coal mining in the water catchment district. Accordingly, a NSW Coalition Government, elected to Government, will ensure, by amendment of any mining lease or mining exploration permit, that the Coast’s water supply is protected.

If necessary, special legislation will be introduced into the Parliament to protect the Wyong water catchment.
